Positional Therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Learn all there is to know about Positional Obstructive Sleep Apnea

May 17, 2024   2pm to 3pm EDT

Join speaker Lyron Deputy, FNP-BC, as we explore the definition, prevalence, and health impacts of untreated OSA, emphasizing the significance of positional OSA.

The one-hour webinar will delve into the pathophysiology of OSA, elucidating fundamental mechanisms of airway obstruction in sleep and the role of body position in its development, highlighting differences between supine and non-supine OSA.

Diagnosis and assessment criteria, including the use of polysomnography and home sleep apnea tests, will be discussed, along with strategies for evaluating positional OSA severity.

Participants will gain insights into positional therapy mechanisms, candidate identification, and statistical epidemiology, along with a review of available devices and combination therapy approaches.

The program concludes with case studies, future research directions, and interactive discussions, aiming to equip participants with practical knowledge and resources for managing OSA effectively.

Learning Objectives

1.  Analyze the impact of body position on the pathogenesis of OSA, distinguishing between supine and non-supine positioning and their effects on airway patency.

2. Identify the criteria for diagnosing positional OSA and differentiate it from other types of sleep-disordered breathing, such as non-positional OSA or central sleep apnea.

3. Identify suitable candidates for positional therapy based on clinical characteristics, positional dependence, adherence potential, and treatment goals, considering individual patient needs and preferences.

Accreditation

Application has been made for 1.00 CE credit for Physician Accreditation (ACCME), which covers MD, NP, PA Category I and DO Category II, and ADA for DDS and DMD.

This webinar is proudly sponsored by Zzoma. Zzoma is a positional medical device for the treatment of mild to moderate positional obstructive sleep apnea.
