Lumin works using a UV disinfection cycle time of only 5 minutes, no harmful ozone, and a 99.9% kill rate for harmful bacteria, viruses, mold, and fungus. CPAP sanitization units that utilize ozone generally require a longer cleaning cycle and up to a two-hour wait before the patient can use their CPAP to allow time for the ozone to dissipate.
Jose Llana, M.D., 3B’s National Director of Sales stated that the launch of the Lumin “was a direct result of several pulmonary physicians expressing concern with their COPD patients using an ozone-based product”. “We wanted to develop a product that would not damage the CPAP machine itself, and had zero risk of exposing a respiratory patient to a lung irritant,” Dr. Llana explained.
