FDA Approves Wireless Type 2 HST, Streams Data in Realtime

While the convenience of Type 2 home-based testing is undeniable, the intricate nature of setting up equipment and ensuring accurate data collection adds a layer of complexity. Striking a balance between technical precision and user-friendly design becomes crucial. Moreover, the discomfort associated with performing these tests cannot be overlooked. Patients find themselves navigating a landscape of wires and sensors, attempting to maintain a semblance of normal sleep amidst the unfamiliar setting.

Dormotech’s solution is a wireless and cordless wearable headband that is a type 2 full sleep test capturing 25 signals, equivalent in quality to a typical PSG in the lab. Without the high total cost of owning and operating existing type 2 solutions. Dormotech’s Vlab does not require sending a technician to the patient’s home for setup. The FDA’s rigorous evaluation process has confirmed the product’s safety, reliability, and efficacy.

“Let’s envision a future in healthcare where the importance of sleep is acknowledged, and diagnostic empowerment extends to all. By making sleep tests more affordable while maintaining the quality of the test for capturing all the necessary sleep signals, we not only unveil the mysteries of the night but also pave the way for a well-rested and healthier society,” says Professor Emeritus from Yale, Meir Kryger.

Vlab is intended for use on adults in a supervised (hospital) or unsupervised (home) environment; Dormotech is doing research in children and, once completed, will seek FDA approval to include the use of this device in the pediatric population. Young patients currently do not have an at-home solution that serves their specific needs.

“Let us advocate for a future where every child’s well-being is safeguarded, even in the realm of sleep. The importance of sleep tests for kids cannot be overstated, yet we recognize the current gap in dedicated devices. Let us strive to innovate, ensuring that our youngest generation receives the attention they deserve. May our commitment to pediatric sleep testing pave the way for healthier childhoods, anticipating with excitement, we look forward to witnessing the outcomes of the clinical trials in pediatrics,” says Professor Asher Tal.

Key Features of Vlab Include:

Advanced Sleep Tracking: Vlab utilizes advanced sensors and algorithms to provide detailed information about various sleep stages, including deep sleep, REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, and light sleep, airflow measurement, position, respiratory efforts, etc..

Designed for Comfort: The device is compact, lightweight, and designed for ease of use, ensuring a comfortable experience for individuals undergoing sleep monitoring.

Wireless Connectivity: Vlab seamlessly integrates with mobile devices and PCs, allowing users and professionals to review their sleep data through a dedicated web app. This feature facilitates easy data sharing between patients and healthcare providers.

Customizable Reporting: Healthcare professionals can access comprehensive sleep reports generated by Vlab Software, aiding in accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.

Long-Term Monitoring: The product is suitable for both in-lab and at-home sleep studies, enabling continuous monitoring for multiple nights to capture valuable data on sleep trends and fluctuations.

“We are thrilled to receive FDA approval for Vlab system. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to advancing healthcare solutions that improve the lives of individuals affected by sleep disorders. Vlab represents a leap forward in sleep diagnostics, providing healthcare professionals with a powerful tool to enhance their ability to diagnose and treat sleep-related conditions effectively. The results of the clinical trials were remarkable.“ said Abed Nassir, CEO of Dormotech Medical.

The device’s capacity to collect detailed sleep data stands as a testament to its potential to revolutionize healthcare, particularly in the prediction of neurological events. By meticulously monitoring sleep patterns, including brain activity and respiratory functionality, the device generates a wealth of data that, when analyzed through our sophisticated algorithms, unveils valuable insights into an individual’s neurological and mental health, enables early detection and personalized risk assessment for conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and dementia.

This innovative approach of using sleep data holds immense potential to significantly improve patient outcomes, fostering a future where the impact of neurological and cardiovascular disorders is mitigated through early detection, precise prediction, and timely therapeutic interventions.
